Curse my faulty memory! [May. 24th, 2007|01:37 am]
[Current Mood | lonely]

So I was at Mad Science's Warehouse today working on this project for them, and when I finally took off I packed everything up and drove home. Upon entering the house It occurs to me that I MIGHT not have locked the Mad Science door. I mean, I had to have, because I was being careful, but I didn't distinctly remember turning the key.
I stood there just inside the door to my house utterly conflicted for about... meh...10 seconds, before heading out the door to hop in the car and drive back to Redmond. Just my luck. I most likely had locked it, but because I couldn't specifically remember doing so I couldn't trust myself enough that I had. So I spent another 40 minutes of my life driving back right where I came from and then back again, because I figure I'd rather waste gas then lose trust from my employers at Mad Science.
After checking the door- which WAS locked- I got back into my car and drove home. Almost started crying on the way back. Why, you ask? Because I was listening to my Les Meserables CD, and even "One Day More" is enough to make my teary-eyed. But NO, I was listening to "On My Own," my own personal power ballad. That song just tears me apart.
I've been getting kind of teary-eyed from things more often lately. Not sure if it's me or the material I've been reading! In my Elf Quest books, I'm at a point where Rayek has stolen Leetah, Skywise, and Suntop from Cutter, and over 300 years pass by in his life without them. There's a scene where the other elves in the tribe are rebuilding a new holt, and cutter is just sitting, alone, his whole family having been taken away. Seriously guys? heartbreaking.
Then in Fables comes the scene where Snow sends her 7th child away. I wont tell you exactly what happens because I know there are people reading it.
And THEN in SANDMAN I just read the one where Barbie lost her Dreamland and the people watching over her die in the storm that indirectly results from that. Wanda died! I was emotionally torn with that one too.
And THEN in Paper Mario. (You heard me... Paper Mario!) You spend a whole level delivering this girl Luvbi to her father. Then come to find out that Luvbi is the Pure Heart that you've been searching for, and that if she turns back into the pure heart, she'll die! Now thats unfair. Really. I was pissed.
And THEN I had to go listen to the one song that I totally break down to every time. Go me.
And, by the way, a couple hours after I got home? I realized I left my cellphone at Mad Science.
Curses!

I just pulled an all-nighter [May. 21st, 2007|06:50 am]
[Current Mood | drained]

Yesterday at about 2pm I had a Eureka! moment. I figured out a layout for my website.
This kind of thing is uber hard for me to decide on, and I have a habit of getting halfway through a design before scraping it.
This one is great! Not perfect, but it's simple, clean, artistic, SO much easier to implement then the last one, and I'll be able to change and improve on the site very easily.
I started working on it, and at around 6pm I took a little Super Paper Mario break.
At around midnight I stopped playing Mario and sat back down at my computer. And started working again. I COULD have gone to bed. I didn't HAVE to stay up, but I was on a roll, so I kept going.
So from then until now I've been working on it pretty much straight. Except for that one point I got distracted going through my old "archive" folders in my documents, and that other point I took a Photoshop break and draw a picture, which I'm totally postin' for ya. I haven't slept all night.
I got my website done.
And it's up... at Chiparoo.com! Go and see!
Wewt! After... oh man it HAS to be a year or two... I finally chose a layout I like and can use. I solemnly swear that I will NOT replace this one for at least another two years. I can work it! oh yeah... uh-huh... ryuten and all that... woooooo man I'm tired.
Today is going to be interesting, what with my lack of sleep. Especially since the finale of Heroes is tonight. I just lost my train of thought... like... 4 times in a row, so I'll end it with this:

This is the picture I did last night in my photoshop break! The idea popped into my head while working on a comment on one of my pictures that fitures my character, Nora. She's a little witch girl, I created her in Jr. High before the Harry Potter craze (or at least before I knew about it,) but her story kind of got... influenced by Harry just a bit. Well, not Harry, but Draco (he's been my favorite character since book 4)
So Nora has this big ol' crush on Draco. And in my daydreams, it all works out, right?
rough little sketch. Enjoy. <3 <3 See you guys later.

Photoshop Project 2 [Feb. 27th, 2007|11:34 pm]
[Current Mood | calm]
[Current Music |Sabra Girl - Nickel Creek]

So for my photoshop class at LWTC, Beth gives us projects with themes. She gives us an idea, and we have to think about it and come up with a design that represents that.
The first project we did was Trust, and I did a collage of people with tattoos, and people getting tattoos. The text on it read, "Trust in the final result."
This time, the theme was occupation. Not... you know... american occupation of iraq (the first thing that came to my mind when I heard the word) but the space you occupy. Confused? I was. Until I realized the perfect way to use the idea of occupation.

So I spent a couple days working on a digital painting.

I thought you'd like to see it. )

Webcomics! [Feb. 21st, 2007|10:12 pm]
Okay! So I was talking about Webcomics to Amy and Jaeger and Amy was interested in the list of webcomics I read. So, here it is. TEH LIST.

(Note: List subject to change at any time, and list doesn't include ALL webcomics I've read. Just the ones I read daily or weekly. There are several artists that have done short-story comics as well that I'm a fan of an I haven't included! Peaople like Kean Soo on Keaner.net, who has done webcomics set to music. Seriously. My favorite is the one called "One with the Freaks.")

The WCCA's!! [Feb. 19th, 2007|07:19 pm]
Okay guys. It's that time of year.
You know the time. All over the place we're seeing different segments of our society celebrating by giving themselves all sorts of self-congratulatory rewards. You know, like the movie industry celebrating everything that is movies and giving their own movies rewards at the Oscars. It's one of my favorite times of the year! Now, I was never a big viewer of the grammies, couldn't really say I've ever watched the golden globes, and the oscars are okie-dokie in my book, but the award show I REALLY look forward to every year is the WCCA's!

You know... the WCCAs.
The Web Cartoonists Choice Awards?

Come on, you should know this people.

Serious bout of emo. [Nov. 27th, 2006|01:02 am]
[Current Mood | indescribable]

I just survived through a serious bout of emo.
I'm okay guys! No one was hurt!

For a lengthy explanation of the situation, here you go! )

I skipped church this morning, opting out to stare at the rain falling just outside my window. I dozed in and out of self-pity until mid-afternoon, when I opened my eyes to see that snow was falling.
Let me change the feeling of this post for a second...

SNOW!
IN NOVEMBER!
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!
This bodes well for snow-lovers such as I!
I friggin' love snow.

And snow meant just enough to me that it immediately pulled me out of my stupor, and now I want to DO THINGS again. I want to make something... hot chocolate. Yeah, I can do that. I love making hot chocolate.
So that's that I think I'll be doing tonight, making dinner and hot chocolate at the Hasan's.
After I help my mother put a tidal wave of Christmas decorations up on the shelves, tables, and walls of this house.

It will bleed Christmas after we're done.
...Is that emo enough for you?

iismes - Wanna see? [Nov. 13th, 2006|08:43 pm]
[Current Mood | nostalgic]

Hey! a long time ago I made these things called iismes (actually pronounced i-ihs-mees but you can call them iis-mehs if you want to). I started making them for use by my little brother, but I kinda got carried away and made them mine. They're kinda like mood icons, but they expanded to include pirates, ninjas... and vampires.

I think my favorite is the vampire.

Which is your favorite? )

And and down and around [Nov. 13th, 2006|08:23 pm]
[Current Mood | confused]
[Current Music |Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol]

My moods are going haywire. One day I'm all elated and cheerful, next day I'm anti-social and withdrawn. At least this isn't happening every 5 minutes or something.

Today should be okay, though. Heroes night tonight!
Jaffer is a cheat and read the plots of all the episodes for a while coming and apprently this one is a good one.
Sooooooo looking forward to it.
But I have to clean the kitchen and family room so much.... gah!

Thank you Jaegermeister and Taimur for picking up the Blind Guardian Tickets! Now I dont have to do it... yay! The show is next Wednesday... this will be a blast :)

P.S. My mom is awesome. She's at work and she's hungry, so she called and told Mary to drive through somewhere and bring it to her. I totally did that once or twice while I worked at The Tux Shop XD

My very very first icon dump [Nov. 12th, 2006|06:24 am]
[Current Mood | jubilant]

Edit: Oops! I left out some icons. Silly me! 5 more added to this dump that I have forgotten to type into the table generator!

Guess what? I made Icons!
They're all One Piece themed.
Now I wont be posting them anywhere but here for now, at least until I get some feedback on them. (Hint hint Mary!)

Look! One Piece Icons! )

Wapsi Square and the week getting better [Nov. 10th, 2006|08:59 pm]
[Current Mood | giddy]

First of all, I'm going to be all websnarky and write a blog about a good webcomic.
Why?... Because it's Wapsi Square.

And they just introduced a librarian sphinx. )

I'm busy today! lets hope all goes to plan.
Last night Alex asked me over to watch a movie with him, which is awesome because that hasn't happened in months, and its a sign that we have the OLD Alex back! Hurrah! We watched Kiss of the Dragon, which I think is my most favorite Jet Li movie so far. Still have yet to see a bond movie.

Around 10:30 I got a call from Ta asking if I wanted to come with a group of people to go to Gameworks. Gameworks... I mean, come on, who would want to go to OF COURSE I FRIGGIN WANT TO GO TO GAMEWORKS!! But of course I have lost my wallet and had to borrow my brother's gameworks card (/sigh). So I went to the biggest arcade in seattle with Ta, Jaffer, Kent, Keith, Daniel, John, and John's new girl Erica. It was a blast. I spent a long while in the old school room with the Atari games, and was able to beat Taimur at a fighting game called Virtual Fighter (which is notable really because I had accidentally chosen a character named Sarah... rofl).

Afterwards we ate at Denny's, and guess who was there? GANDALF!! Nick Cozetto and Crystal Mylam where there, innocently getting a bite to eat at 2 in the morning as I walked in and intruded on their fun. Oh, it was so great to see them.

I have to run, and get ready for work. GAH!
Busy day busy day... wish me luck!

P.S. I'm sorry Jaegermeister, for the canceled shoot :

Blargeh Blarg blarg [Nov. 9th, 2006|08:06 pm]
[Current Mood | out of touch]

Politics )

Kinda not been a good week. Started out fabulous, great Monday that's for sure. But it has deteriorated into stress and not seeing people. The pain in my lower back still keeps me up at night, and most of the time it hurts to walk. It makes me clumsy, that's for sure. I kept dropping things during Mad Science.
Yesterday was my last day teaching science at my Wednesday class, at the King's School. It was such a great school to teach in. They took total responsibility for the children and gave them about 45 minutes between the end of school and the beginning of Mad Science to eat snacks and spend their energy on the playground. This meant I could come in super early to set up (I usually only got about 10 minutes or less) in the spanish classroom run by Senora Shorack. Mrs. Shorack and her three sons Landon, Kyle, and Titus kept me company before and after the class. They gave me a $5 gift certificate to Starbucks yesterday. How sweet!
Unfortunately... stress before and after that. Meh. It was the only day I forgot my notes, so I had to wing it. Luckily the class was on Detective Science, and I had taught Secret Agent Lab in summer camps all last summer. Lots of the same things going on there. Scientific Method FTW!
I haven't been able to sign onto WoW all week.
I keep meaning to start making icons for lj, too. Haven't started that yet.
Still trying to fiddle with lj coding. It's not going as well as I'de hoped. I'm starting to think that they will not allow absolute positioned image overrides. This would be sad times for me.
Gah - I hope I get to see friends sometime soon. Perhaps I will have to have a movie night this Friday. I kinda want to watch Tank Girl again.
It's freaking pouring down rain.

[Current Mood | aggravated]

I spent most of last evening working on the title image for this journal. It was fun times, and I was excited about it.
Now, though, I cant figure out the style/css for it. I wanted it absolute positioned over the header box, and I cant get it to work. It wont let me put just a pure tag in the custom css section of the journal style. Aggravation! I've been looking everywhere for a way to place the IMG code into the GOBAL_HEAD, because according to HTML goodies you can, but it never says the actual code to manipulate it.
I was so frustrated with it yesterday you can no idea.
I told Alex I was going to commit seppuku but he was getting all technical about it. He said I couldn't because there was no one there to cut off my head after I've gutted myself. DETAILS DETAILS.
I don't even know if LJ will allow me to do this sort of thing, and no where on this site have I been able to find any mention of absolute positioning.
So, I've stuck it into an entry box until I have time to figure it out later. I still have alot of work to do before going to Mad Science today and only a couple hours to do it. Last day for the Wednesday class and all.

TEH PAIN [Nov. 7th, 2006|10:29 am]
[Current Mood | content]

Today was a blast. But it didn't start out that way.
I'll be frank with you. When I have my monthly cramps, I cramp in the back, not the front. So, my lower back hurts, as per usual for this time of the month. Except this time it's terrible. It's many times worse then usual, to the point where I fel like my lower back cant support me when I sit or stand. Usually, so long as I'm leaning on something or laying down I'm fine.
But this whole predicament made me cancle plans to go to a Paki restaurant with Jaffer, Ta, and Jaeger for lunch. A buffet, even. Tears! I've only had Pakitani food once and it was soo good.
At least that gave me extra time to clean the family room while doing it at a tottering, elderly pace. (seriously, having a back like this makes me walk in a slight waddle and stoop, which makes me feel like an old woman.)
Daniel called earlier in the day as well, but I missed his phonecall because my cell was on silent. His message was to ask if I wanted to hang out because he was down here for the time being. When I called him back 20 minutes after he had called me, he was already on his way out! Heartbreak. Never get to see that boy anymore since her moved an hour away.
Ah, well. His birthday is soon, hopefully he'll be down here for that.
Minja brought her extra Guitar Hero controller so we could play together. We rocked. And by "We Rocked" I mean "SHE rocked ME and grounded all my scores to dust. Because she rocks... my socks." Minja FTW.
This was actually the most fun I've had at a Heroes Party yet. We figured out that 7 people can fit on my couch, if we pile up about 4 people high. Lettsee... Taimur, Devin and I were sitting on the actual couch, with Ta in the middle. Jaeger decided to drape herself across me and Ta, and then Chris wedged himself between Ta and I with his legs over Jaeger. We were like that for a while, then they came. Jaffer, Kent, Keith. Keith took off his shooes and climbed over the back of the couch, crushing Taimur before actually setting himself into position on Ta's lap. THEN... oh man then... James (who had been watching from afar across the room) launched himself off the coffee table to land on top of keith's lap. The icing on the cake.
James also almost lauched himself off the dock later, too. We kinda moved our party to a pier that looks over Lake Washington onto Seattle. A few of the boys started sliding on the dock, and daring each other as to who could slide the closest to the edge without falling in the lake. James won.
Later we went to Sherri's, because it's better then Denny's, where I learned how to say 1-5 in Urdu (the language of Pakistan). Its not spelled right at all, but how it's PRONOUNCED: Aik, Du, Theen, Char, Panch. Wewt!
My back is still hurting a bit. But I do have a few things to do before going to sleep.

Tonight tonight, tomorrow tomorrow [Nov. 6th, 2006|02:20 am]
[Current Mood | geeky]

Nothing's happening. Not really.
I spend alot of my time waiting for something, anything to happen. Hobbies are just something to do while I wait for certain events.
At least I might get to see a movie tonight, which I now feel guilty about. (thanks, Jaegermeister, thanks alot) Taimur is watching TV behind me as I fiddle with the layout of my livejournal. Trying out this one, and that one... seeing if any really tickle my fancy. What od you think of this one?

HEY! HEY! You know what day tomorrow is? MONDAY! It's Monday hurrah!
I came to realize my love of mondays when I started falling head over heals for certain Webcomics. No matter wether a comic updates on a weekly, bi-weekly, or daily schedual it's the general trend to update Monday morning. So the first part of my mondays are usually spent swimming in a sea of witty content. This makes Sarah very, very joyful.
ALSO! It's become a tradition around here that every moday is Heroes night. Yes, Heroes, the new show about a handful of people developing super powers. A group of my super friends come over to watch it with me and hang out afterward. It tends to be a friggin' blast.
I just need to figure out what I want to feed them this week, because that's always important.
Perhaps pita chips and hummace.
Yum.

On a last note, Taimur really, really sucks at Guitar Hero. But not just because he hasn't played much, but because he refuses to hold the guitar like a guitar. YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG TA.
Anyway.
Later folks.
